Why You Should Choose a Wood Pet Urn

By: Admin

For many of us, a pet’s death is devastating. Our pets are family members and facing their loss is extremely difficult to bear. As difficult as it is, many people choose to honor their pet’s memory with a pet memorial. One of the most common pet memorials is a pet urn. There are many different types of urns available for any pet in many different styles.

Wooden urns are probably the most common types of urns that most people choose. They were the first types of pet urns available and remain a traditional choice for many pet owners. The  wood urns have an opening, usually in the bottom that you place the ashes in. They are relatively inexpensive and there are many different styles and finishes available to complement any décor. If many of your accents in your home are oak, for example, you may want to choose an oak pet urn.

Wood pet urns are very versatile in design as well. With wood, you are able to customize the urn with engraving or pyrography (wood burning.) You may choose to have the urn engraved or burned with the pet’s name, date of birth and death, a memorable quote, or even a picture of the animal. Many wood cremation urns include a name plate or other detail that can be customized as well.

Many wood pet urns have a frame on it in which you can put a favorite photo of your pet, and some even feature a digital photo frame that will allow you to run a slideshow of your pet’s life. It’s always nice to be able to look at a photo of your pet when you are missing him and grieving his loss.

Wooden urns are available in different sizes to accommodate the remains of any sized pet. They range in size from extra small (up to 10 lbs) to extra large (up to 140 lbs.) You will need to check the sizes available for the urn you choose to ensure that your pet’s ashes will fit. You may also want to allow for extra room to add other items to the urn, such as collars, tags, special toys or other mementos.

Regardless of which wooden urns you chose for your pet memorial, you will be able to honor your pet’s memory and have a special reminder of the joy and love your pet gave you during his time with you.
