Pet Cremation Urns: Keeping the Memories Alive and Close to You

By: Admin

As a pet owner, I can tell you that the hardest thing to do is to see your pet die or have to have it euthanized. Anyone who says “It’s just a dog (or cat)” really has no idea of the bond that we have with our pets. They are best friends and family members. I lost my dog, Molly, 11 years ago and I still think of her almost every day. Her picture is on my desk at work and on my mouse pad at home. Sure, I have two other dogs now that I love very much, but no one will ever replace my Molly.

The biggest regret I have when it comes to Molly is that I can’t go visit her grave or be close to her because we no longer live where she is buried. If I could go back in time, I would have had her cremated and kept her ashes in a pet cremation urn so I could still have her near me whenever I need to be close to her for a few minutes.

Pet cremation urns have become quite popular over the last few years. Attitudes towards pets have been changing and evolving over time and people are becoming closer to their pets and admitting how much they really mean to them. Cremation is becoming more common for humans, and pet owners are starting to have their pets cremated for many of the same reasons that people are. With the evolution of attitudes towards animals, it is becoming accepted and expected to have memorials for pets.

It is surprisingly comforting to be able to hold your pet in your hands (even when they are in an urn) and just enjoy a memory or feel close to them for just a moment. The grieving and healing process takes a long time and has many difficult stages to get through and having your pet there in a pet cremation urn is quite helpful during the process.

Three of my four pets that have been part of my life for the last 9 years are getting older and although I really don’t want to think about it, I know I’m going to have to face their passing soon. After what I’ve gone through missing Molly, I know now that I will be getting pet cremation urns for my two cats and two dogs when the time comes.
